This morning I got a chance to finish the neighbors yard. I remembered to drink water before I went, and I don’t think it was quite as hot today as yesterday. I pushed their side yard and part of their back yard, then wimped out and used the riding mower for the rest of their back yard. I think it was okay though, I still pushed quite a bit and felt sufficiently worn out when I was done! But I enjoyed doing it and I’m glad they won’t have to worry about it when they get home.

Hannah’s favorite thing
Tonight after reading bedtime stories and saying our prayers, I asked Hannah what her favorite thing was about today. Her answer “Going to Granddaddy’s house”. Her second favorite thing was her new “park” at Granddaddy’s. Dad got Hannah a swing set for her to play with at his house, when she first saw it she was half asleep and didn’t really know what was going on, but a little while later she realized it was for her.
While she was playing on it she said, I love my see saw, it’s my favorite thing, it makes me so happy. We had to have a little chat about things not being what gives us joy, I don’t think she completely understood what I was saying, but she will.
Tomorrow is her birthday party, I’m so excited for her. The best part for me is being able to spend a couple of hours with all our friends and family, especially Aunt Suzanne who traveled from Arkansas for the big event. Tomorrow is going to be a great day!!
Simple pleasures
Last night we went to dinner with Dad and Karen (KaKa to the girls). Karen isn’t going to be able to come to Dad’s party since she’ll be in Vegas with her oldest daughter, Erin. So Hannah got a couple of presents early. The big present was a big two sided easel. Chalk board on one side, dry erase & magnetic on the other. Hannah and Reagan loved it. And they can both be playing with it at the same time, without fighting over it. Yes, even though Reagan doesn’t talk yet, she does know how to scream, so many times she and Hannah will have a little “dispute” over a toy. They played peek a boo around it and everything, it kept them occupied for at least an hour, maybe more. It’s WONDERFUL!!!!!
The other gift KaKa gave Hannah was a Happy Birthday balloon. Hannah use to be scared of balloons, but thankfully she’s gotten over it. She was talking to her balloon and playing with it the whole time we were in the restaurant, in the car on the way home, and after we got home. She even went to sleep with it. I had to wait until she was asleep to take it away from her. She had the string wrapped around her arm and I was worried it may end up wrapped around her neck as much as she tosses and turns in her sleep.
Then this morning, she found it again and is having a ball playing with it. She’s been playing with the easel this morning too, but it’s not quite as mobile as the balloon. Thank you, KaKa for such wonderful gifts!!
Work out diary
Yesterday I decided it was time to mow again. With the push mower this time. Once again I didn’t really think things through. I took a bottle of water with me, but left it in the garage. AND, I decided to mow during the hottest part of the day. Smart! I get out to our yard and realize that most of our grass is a little dead since we’ve not had a good rain in awhile. Then I remember that our neighbors are out of town for the weekend. When Hannah was born they mowed our yard while we were in the hospital, I’ve wanted to repay them for three years now. I finally have the chance. I got their front yard and part of the side yard mowed before I figured if I didn’t get in out of the heat and get some water in me Zale was going to find me passed out in the neighbors yard. I’m hoping to finish it up today, but I’ll be a bit smarter about it this time….maybe. I would think an hour and a half of mowing counts as a work out, right?
work out diary
I did mow the lawn Sunday, but I cheated and used the riding lawn mower for most of it. Hopefully the next time I’ll suck it up and get some good exercise out of it.
Tonight Zale and I loaded up the girls in the tandem stroller and went for a walk around the neighborhood. It was probably for only a half an hour, but it was better than nothing. Over all I think the girls liked it. My friend Angela just had a baby three weeks ago. She’s such a good example. She takes her baby on walks in the morning and in the evening. Of course she taught kick boxing through out her whole pregnancy, and I mean the WHOLE pregnancy. She taught a class the same night she went into labor. I wish I had that same drive in my DNA that made me want to work out more!
hide and seek
Last Friday when we were visiting with Ella Kate, she and Hannah & Leeanna were playing hide and seek. It never dawned on me before to do that with Hannah. Which is a bit weird since it’s something I remember doing with my Mom. This week I’ve made an effort to play it with Hannah. She’s getting the hang of it, but only wants to count to 3 when it’s her turn. Luckily all I have to do is cover up with a blanket and she’s happy!
When I was little we lived in student housing since my parents were going to college. I remember a few times of playing hide and seek in our little 2 bedroom one bath apartment. The only two places I remember hiding were under the kitchen table and in a box in the hall closet. I think it was an appliance box that was used as a laundry hamper. Maybe that’s not right, but it’s how I remember it. Good times!
3 years old
Wow, Hannah is three years old today. It’s just so hard to believe! I thought about trying to do something special with her today, but she’s in a bit of a weird mood. Doesn’t even want to take off her Dora PJs. I figured, hey, it’s your birthday, you want to wear your PJs all day, it’s okay with me! Normally she loves to talk on the phone, but not today. She’s had several calls to wish her a happy birthday, but I can’t get her to talk on the phone. It’s almost as if she’s turning 30 instead of 3 and is bummed out about being a year older.
Maybe she’ll be excited during her party on Sunday. Hopefully!
Fasting – week 2 & 3
I started this post on the 18th, it’s now the 26th, pitiful I know. Our church is still doing the One Prayer series so the last two Tuesdays Zale and I fasted from breakfast and lunch. This past Tuesday, as a church we were praying for our World leaders. That’s something I usually have to be reminded of, so I’m glad it was brought to my attention again. No matter what political views you may have, I still think it’s a wonderful idea to pray for the people that have been or will be elected to leadership positions and whose decisions will affect each of us in some way. Many times I’m so wrapped up in my little world that I forget about the bigger picture. I need to quit doing that and remember to pray for our leaders on a regular basis.
wet hands
Just a little bit ago Hannah comes out and says “Mama, I went pee pee in the potty!!”, So I tell her how proud I am of her and put my hand out so she can give me five. She gives me five with a big smile on her face, and I wonder why her hand is wet. “Hannah, did you play in the pee pee?” I ask knowing the answer, but hoping beyond hope she found a way to wash her hands in the sink by her self. She didn’t say anything, just nodded with a very sweet smile on her face as if to say, “Yep, but I’m too cute to get mad at!!”. Oh well, it could have been worse!! At least it was just pee!
first Carousal
One day last week Anthony and his girlfriend wanted to go to the mall. I wanted to look in the toy store and get some ideas for Hannah’s birthday, so we all loaded up in the Suburban and went to the mall. They have a carousal in the food court that the girls have seen, but never been on. So I talked Hannah into doing it, but once we got on she wouldn’t pick a horse to ride on and didn’t really want to have anything to do with it anymore. So I called Zale over to swap Hannah for Reagan. Turns out, Reagan’s ride was free so I put her on a horse, Zale sat with Hannah on one of the benches since she wouldn’t get on a horse and away we went. Reagan loved it, she laughed and held on to the pole as if she had done it many times before. Hannah sat beside Zale with a death grip on his pants with one hand, and the other was holding on to the bench. I think her knuckles were white. Even after we got off the ride Hannah looked shell shocked. But later she talked about it as if it was the best fun she had ever had. I wonder if we’ll ever get her back on it? I wish I had taken my camera!
