Stupid, Stupid, Stupid…ALWAYS read the directions
Tonight after bath time I was straighting up the bath room and noticed some over the counter ear drops I had used Friday when I was trying to fix my ear infection before it got unbearable. These drops are actually to try to loosen any excess ear wax, not for earaches. But I thought maybe that was my problem, or maybe fluid was trapped behind excess wax, so I used it. WITHOUT READING THE DIRECTIONS. Not my brightest moment.
Before I put the drops away I casually glanced at the directions. Right there it said “do not use if your ear hurts or has any kind of drainage or discharge”. I HAD ALL THREE OF THOSE SYMPTOMS. I couldn’t figure out why this ear infection came on so hard so fast, I think I just found out why. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid me. Not an easy lesson to learn. So please take it from me, ALWAYS READ THE DIRECTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m quite sure my ear infection would have progressed and needed medical attention anyway, but maybe it wouldn’t have happened so fast or been so painful if I had just taken 10 seconds to read the directions. There’s another mistake I won’t make again!!! I always read the directions if it’s an over the counter medication I’m giving the kids, or even my husband, you would think I would take the same precautions for myself. You can bet I will from now on!!!
