Penny is not my real aunt, but I want my kids to know that she’s as much family to me as anyone else. Just saying that she’s a friend of the family doesn’t cut it. My Dad met Penny when I was a kid. I think through playing racquetball, but now that I think about it I don’t know exactly how they met. They are like siblings in how competitive they are. It’s a blast to watch them play racquetball or pool.
I didn’t get to meet Penny until 1999 or 2000. I was on a business trip to Cleveland OH where she was living at the time. Dad set it up for us to have dinner, and I’m so glad he did! I was a little nervous at first since I hadn’t ever met her and thought it was going to be an awkward meeting, but it wasn’t. We hit it off immediately and talked for hours. It was great!! We only get to see her once a year or so since she lives in Arkansas, but it’s always an awesome time when we do! I can’t wait to see her again!
Hey Sweetie, Thank you for the great posts about Penny and racquetball. I thought maybe you had a “hovering” compulsion to come watch Chet, Penny, and I play. (thank you) I first met Penny at College Church in the late 70′s (she and Libby both worked for the school) and later in the early 80′s we began playing racquetball, should I say competitively, after her Dad trounced me in a tournament. Love, Dad
Sounds like a fun person for you kids to get to know.
